Choir Director and Elective Department Chair, August 2017 – Present
Roanoke County Public Schools, Roanoke, Virginia
Hidden Valley High School and Hidden Valley Middle School
  • Teaches grades 6 through 12 on a 95 minute block rotation schedule. 
  • Develops and implements strategies and lesson plans to engage adolescent voices for a longer duration of singing.
  • Recruits new students and maintains a retention percentage of 90% and above in high school level choirs. 
  • Has increased the high school choral program from one choir (first year) to three choirs (third year).
  • Uses technology to facilitate part learning and independency (e.g. Choir Reader, Sight Reading Factory, Choral Tracks LLC, Audacity, Sibelius, MuseScore, etc.) 
  • Receives superior and excellent ratings at assessments and competitions.
Choir Director and  Musical Theater Director, August 2009 – June 2017

  • Prepared and implemented choral music lesson plans for grades 4 through 12.
  • Selected musical repertoire, conducted rehearsals, chose individual singers for solos, and chose instrumentalists to accompany the ensembles.
  • Directed all aspects of the musical theatre program for grades 3 through 12, which performed two musicals per year; fall and spring.
  • Increased student participation in the middle and high school choral programs and the school-wide musical theatre program substantially.
  • Delegated administrative tasks, such as maintaining a calendar of events for performances, recruiting new members, and ensuring the uniformity of group attire.
